At Hunloke Park Primary School, we believe in educating the whole child so they have the skills to negotiate and thrive in the modern world.
Residential Opportunities
During the children’s time with us, they will be invited to join their classmates on two residential stays. Both of these opportunities are in key stage 2. One is to a coastal location and one is to a city location. Both of these visits support the geography curriculum but also provide opportunities for the children to develop their independence and teamwork skills. The visits provide both academic and spiritual, moral, social and cultural development opportunities. If your child is in receipt of pupil premium funding then please contact the office as a discount can be applied.
Musical Opportunities
We offer a wide variety musical opportunity; specialist peripatetic teachers provide lessons for children to learn guitar, drums, keyboard and violin. If your child would like to take up the opportunity to learn an instrument and is in receipt of pupil premium funding a discount for the lessons can be applied. Alongside these opportunities, in upper key stage 2, a specialist peripatetic teacher works with the children for the year so they become proficient in playing the ukulele; throughout the year the children perform musical concerts to showcase their developing skills. As a school, we also take part in local singing opportunities and annually perform at the Winding Wheel Theatre in Chesterfield and sing Christmas themed songs to raise money for our chosen charity at Tesco in Clay Cross.
Sporting Opportunities
Qualitas and Shape, two companies specialising in providing active and fitness sessions, run after school clubs throughout the year for all age groups these range from multiskill activities to focused sports such as football and cricket. If your child is in receipt of pupil premium funding please contact the office as a discount can be applied for some sports clubs. The school is actively involved in inter school sports competitions and separate training is provided throughout the year to support our children to learn and practise the skills necessary to compete.
Curriculum Clubs
Children are given the opportunity throughout the year to take part in curriculum subject clubs that are of specific interest to them, such as Stem and computing clubs. Children also have the opportunity to take part in gardening around the school grounds and grow food for the kitchen to use at lunchtime.
